Rapha has announced a new women's clothing collection created in collaboration with US activewear brand Outdoor Voices.

A chance encounter between designers from the two brands in Mallorca two years ago served as the stimulus for the move to collaborate on the new range of garments.

In true Rapha style, there’s even a hip-and-edgy campaign video too, look...

Exclusively for women, the remit of the collection is to ‘help get the world moving’. Rapha says it worked with Outdoor Voices to add extra practical features to a few of its most popular products in order for women to get more out of their riding, whether they are new to the sport or seasoned riders.

We’ll admit that ‘kit brand launches new kit’ might not be the story of the century, but the premise of the Rapha + Outdoor Voices collection seems particularly well-intended and pertinent to the attitude towards cycling in the current times.

As the kit appears to be nicely considered too, we thought you’d like to take a look.

Rapha’s head of design, Maria Olsson, says of the collection: ‘Together with Outdoor Voices we set out to achieve a positive and inclusive experience for all women who love cycling, and also break down some of the barriers which can be a bit overwhelming.

‘We wanted to bring everyone along on the journey through the graphics and colours of the range, without compromising on the technical aspects that we are known for.’

The focal point of the collection is the Rapha + Outdoor Voices jersey, which is available in three colours.

Rapha says lightweight and breathable fabrics have been combined into a streamlined cut, and thanks to Outdoor Voices’ input a coin pocket has been added, as well as a zipped loop pocket specifically suited to the collection’s wind jacket.

The wind jacket comes in opaque white or a ‘terrazzo’ print said to be inspired by examples of the composite found in Mallorca. Every terrazzo print is unique to each garment.

Despite being lightweight and packable, the jacket has a pocket, a hidden reflective drop tail and smart performance features like detached sections at the back of the jacket, which aim to improve ventilation.

Just like the wind jacket, the bib section of the cargo bibshorts uses an overlapped design at the rear that continues the speckled ‘terrazzo’ aesthetic.

A pocket at the rear and cargo pockets on the leg panels provide extra storage options and Rapha says the chamois has been specifically designed and shaped for women.

Also included in the collection are a t-shirt, bra, cap and socks, all with styling and features to suit the main ride kit.

The Rapha + Outdoor Voices collaboration has addressed accessories too, and includes a neat bar bag.

The bag is reflective, and Rapha says the straps are designed in such a way that they can attach the bag to a rider’s bike but also lengthen so the bag can be worn over the shoulder when off the bike.
